“In Macondo, I imagined the mythical town of Gabriel García Márquez’s One Hundred Years of Solitude emerging from the rain that fell four years, eleven months, and two days

.

Layers of blue, turquoise, green, and veiled ochre descend across the canvas like water, vegetation, and dissolving light. Dark gestural lines move through the composition as branches, remnants of architecture, or fragments of an unknown language. Beneath them, submerged forms suggest doorways, dwellings, and the lingering traces of a town almost erased by time.

The painting is not intended as a literal representation of Macondo. Instead, it considers the emotional landscape left behind after an impossible duration of rain: the silence after catastrophe, the fragility of memory, and the strange persistence of beauty within ruin. Here, water becomes both destructive and regenerative. It obscures the past while preparing the earth for life to begin again.” ~ AP
